It takes powerful emotions to unite a man
and woman for life. So when it was time for Amy Hollon and Kevin Gordon to
join in marriage, they wanted their ceremony to reflect the great depths
of their love for one another.
“We wanted it to be amazing… and really personal.” Amy explains.
They succeeded. Amy and Kevin’s wedding at St. John the Divine Episcopal
Church in River Oaks was set to breathtaking, large-scale musical
performances.
Working with wedding consultant
Elizabeth Morgan and Amy’s mother, Cynthia Mills, Amy booked the
musicians through Marshall Maxwell Entertainment Agency. She also worked
closely with John Gearhart, director of music ministries at St. John.
The result was an unforgettable combination of performances by Gearhart
and associate director of music Steven Newberry, along with many other
talented musicians. One of the highlights of the ceremony was St. John’s
world-class organ. “It played music that was elegant and dignified
befitting a most beautiful and thoughtful wedding,” Amy says.
The sanctuary was filled with music and fragrant flowers as the carillon
heralded the approaching hour.
Approximately 350 friends and family members watched Amy make her stunning
walk down the aisle in a gown
by Monique Lhuillier from
Louise Blum. The champagne silk satin gown featured a strapless
sweetheart neckline, lovely rose-shaped gathers in the ballgown skirt and
a long, flowing train. Edward Sanchez of Jose Eber did Amy’s makeup, and
Bella Rinova styled her hair.
The fragrant and unique floral arrangements by David Brown were a
signature element of the wedding, especially the red roses, which could be
found in bouquets and boutonnières.
The reception décor at River Oaks Country Club featured gold chivari
chairs and beautiful linens by Harry Rice. A metal and glass conservatory
filled with flowers, foliage and live butterflies was placed next to the
guest-book while paper butterflies were incorporated in the table
centerpieces.
At the reception, guests enjoyed cocktails while greeted by the music of
the Marshall Maxwell Entertainment Agency Jazz Trio, followed by a
performance by the Tyrone Smith Revue with a special appearance by Super T
accompanied by DJ Marcus McKissick. A sumptuous dinner followed.
The bride’s eight-tiered vanilla and butter cream cake from
Who Made The Cake was covered with roses, grapes and baby’s breath,
and appeared to float on a bed of red roses. The groom’s chocolate cake
was covered with edible golf balls and chocolate-covered strawberries.
Nhan Photography captured the entire exquisite event.
After the celebrations, Amy and Kevin honeymooned at a private villa at
Villas Del Mar in Palmilla, Cabo San Lucas.
Amy says she couldn’t have created such a memorable day without her
mother, “She was absolutely instrumental… her style and taste are
impeccable.”
